Shared Governance

Our nursing staff plays an active role in shaping the role of nursing at Randolph Hospital. There are six shared governance councils: Nursing Research Council, Nursing Education Council, Nursing Practice Council, JCAHO Preparedness Council, Special Projects Council and the Nursing Assistants Council. In addition, each nursing unit has a Unit Improvement Council. 

Clinical Ladder - Advanced Career Enhancement (ACE)

A Clinical Ladder is a program developed to recognize and reward Registered Nurses (RNs) for clinical excellence. The program at Randolph Hospital is called Advanced Career Enhancement (ACE).

To apply, a candidate must be a non-exempt Registered Nurse employed at Randolph Hospital with a minimum of two years of nursing experience, have worked at least 1,000 clinical hours in the most recent 12-month period at Randolph Hospital and have at least 12 months experience on their unit.

There are three levels of the ACE Program. Each level has progressive requirements. Applicants must meet criteria from two tracks: Education/Professionalism and Clinical Nursing Practice/Professionalism. Each year the ACE inductees are honored at a banquet.

RN to BSN Option through Winston-Salem State University (WSSU)
We offer the RN to BSN option through WSSU. Classes are taught on the Randolph Hospital campus on Tuesday nights from 5 to 9 p.m. Any registered nurse with a current, unrestricted North Carolina RN license may apply. Randolph Hospital employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement. General education requirements can be completed at a community college. The length of time required to complete the nursing core requirements vary. A student attending full-time (1-4 nursing courses per semester) can complete the nursing core in 3 semesters. A student attending part-time (1-2 nursing courses per semester) allows for completion of the nursing core in 5-6 semesters. You may challenge 33 credit hours of nursing courses by taking the NLN RN Mobility Profile Challenge Exam. Please call the RN-BSN Office at WSSU at 336-750-2296 to request additional information.

BSN Differential

At Randolph Hospital, we fully support education. We are one of the few hospitals that offer an hourly BSN differential for our staff nurses. 

Professional Development Stipend

Randolph Hospital offers a Professional Development Support Program for our registered nurses to attend continuation education programs. Full-time, Part-Time Flex and Full-Time weekend option Staff Nurses, RN Unit Coordinators, Supervisors and the Clinical Nurse Specialist are eligible to apply for the Professional Development Stipend. There is a maximum stipend per person, and funding is limited to the budgeted allocation each year, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Education

Randolph Hospital's Education Department offers a wide variety of classes for our registered nurse including: BCLS, ACLS, PALS, Preceptor Orientation and annual refresher, Annual Competencies, Order Entry, Micromedex and Valco, ABC's of Organ and Tissue Donation, Bipolar/Depression, Cardiac, EKG I and II, Mother/Baby Training, Crisis Prevention and Spanish for the Healthcare Provider. In addition to these classes, staff are offered a broad range of educational modules offered online through the HealthStream Learning Center.

Nursing Awards

Because our nurses are so special, each year during National Nurses Week, Randolph Hospital honors their contributions to providing outstanding quality care with a full calendar of special events including awarding the Mia Curry Nurse of the Year and the Nursing Assistant of the Year. Schedules

Most of the nursing units at Randolph Hospital offer self scheduling. All our inpatient areas and the ED offer 12-hour shifts, with three 12-hour shifts per week being full-time.

Weekend Option positions are offered as available. Staff applying for weekend option schedules must have a minimum of one year of related experience. Weekend option staff receives premium pay to work every weekend. Weekend staff is scheduled to work a minimum of two shifts each weekend. A weekend option constitutes any combination of Friday at 1900 through Monday at 0700, as defined by the department director.

We offer a variety of PRN and Per Diem options that vary in the level of commitment/flexibility and compensation.
