2012 Grants Funded
This year, the Randolph Hospital Community Health Foundation is proud to announce that it has awarded 6 health and wellness grants. This is the 15th year the Foundations has provided funding for health and wellness programs throughout the community. The 2012 grants that were awarded through the Randolph Hospital Community Health Foundation include:
- $2,500: Seagrove Elementary School a challenge grant to provide half the funding to pave the walking track at Seagrove Elementary School, which provides the students, faculty, staff and community a safe place to walk and increase their physical fitness.
- $9,600: Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Department to construct the Freedom Park Walking/Jogging Exercise Trail, which will provide fitness opportunities for the entire community.
- $36,000: Town of Franklinville to expand the Deep River Rail Trail, connecting Franklinville and Ramseur. This will also improve the boat landing property and build a bridge at Sandy Creek.
- $1,550: Randolph Community College to fund a “Substance Abuse and the Family” Conference - a half-day conference at RCC for family members who have loved ones dealing with substance abuse.
- $7,574: Randolph Hospital to fund a study on the effectiveness of providing a psychiatrist for substance abuse and mental health patients in the Emergency Department. The results of this study will be provided to the State of NC to demonstrate the need to have a psychiatrist in all Emergency Departments.
- $5,315: Randolph County Family Crisis Center, Inc. to replace the kitchen appliances at the Family Crisis Center, which serves people in crisis from domestic family violence, sexual assault and rape situations.
Total: $62,539
Founded in 1995, the Randolph Hospital Community Health Foundation uses the interest from general contributions and monies raised from special events to award health and wellness grants to the Randolph County community.
