Balance Rehabilitation Program
According to statistics from the National Institute of Health,
over 90 million Americans have experienced dizziness or balance
problems, many of whom are between the ages of 65 and 75. About
one-third of people older than 65 fall each year. Falls are the
number one cause of emergency room visits for all age groups. Nationally,
falls are the leading cause of injury death in people older than
age 65.
Balance disorders interfere with day-to-day activities. They affect
the ability to work and can even restrict travel. There are many
different causes of balance disorders ranging from neurological
to inner ear and even headaches. Our Balance Program uses the most
advanced technology and treatment to improve the quality of life
for those with balance and dizziness problems.
Our multi-pronged approach to balance and dizziness problems entails:
- Creating an individualized exercise program specific to
your needs
- Use of advanced equipment, Neurocom, which was created
to test NASA astronauts balance through the challenges of zero
gravity
- Advanced
therapeutic treatments including Aquatic Therapy
- Education related to your diagnosis
- Additional training in functional
activities available through the Activities of Daily Living Lab
- an area where patients can get re-acclimated to everyday tasks
in the home such as washing clothes or dishes, getting in and
out of bed and going to the restroom.
