There are various opportunities and career paths available for nurses at Randolph Hospital.
Medical Pediatric Services (MPS) Unit is a 66 bed unit which is located on two floors. MPS specializes in pediatrics; urology; ear, nose and throat; adult medical and a rapidly growing palliative care program.
Inpatient Surgical Unit (ISU) is a 20 bed unit which primarily treats adult surgical patients specializing in orthopedics, oncology, urology and gynecology. Chemotherapy for oncology patients can be given by specially trained chemotherapy nurses; not required by all nurses. This unit also has telemetry, which is remotely monitored by the Progressive Care Unit.
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 28 bed unit (20 medical telemetry beds, 8 step-down beds). PCU primarily focuses on patients with cardiovascular disease and provides services for the Chest Pain Center.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 12 bed unit. The ICU manages various high acutely medical and surgical patients who may require a Ventilator, BIS Monitor, Non-Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring and/or multiple drips.
Maternity Services (MASU) is a 14 Bed Closed Unit (12 Private Rooms for delivery, 2 Semi-Private rooms for triage). The Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum (LDRP) Concept is used. The Maternity Services staff and physicians deliver more than 900 babies per year. We have a Level II Nursery and a private operating room located on the unit for cesarean sections.
The new Emergency Department opened in 2000 and is a 20 bed unit comprised of 12 Major Care Beds and 8 Minor Care Beds. Minor care is open daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. The ED sees over 42,000 patient visits per year and features a new state-of-the-art monitoring system, T-system documentation and 24-hour physician coverage.
Special Procedures Unit (SPU) available through the unit that include: Bronchoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, Endoscopy, Esophageal Motility, Lithotripsy, Minor Excisions and pH Monitoring.
Surgical Services is comprised of the Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU) and Same Day Surgery (SDS). We have 5 operating rooms, and 1 procedure room. Surgical Services specializes in General/Vascular, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Gynecology/ Obstetrics, Ear, Nose and Throat, Dental Surgery, Podiatry and Urology. Surgical Services performs an average of 20 surgical cases a day with 85 percent of surgeries coming through same day surgery. Randolph Hospital is offering the latest in minimally invasive surgical procedures. Surgical Services is open 6:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with call required by OR and PACU staff.
Randolph Hospital's Home Health Services provide high-quality care to patients in the comfort and security of their home. Nurses working in home health service areas on Randolph County and the periphery which includes parts of Chatham, Davidson, Guilford, Montgomery and Moore Counties. Home Health staff use of point of care technology. Our field staff has small laptop like devices that they use for all documentation. This helps speed up and simplify documentation, but it's important that someone feels comfortable using a computer. Home Health offers a flexible schedule with self-scheduling encouraged, mileage reimbursement, cell phones provided for full-time staff, excellent staffing ratios and an average case load is 6 patients per day.
