Hand & Upper Extremity Therapy
Reaching, grabbing, writing, driving, lifting, or waving - all
activities that we take for granted. Each of these seemingly simple
daily activities is only possible because of the versatility and
flexibility of the upper extremity. This area of the human body
is uniquely complex and includes the joints, bones and muscles
of the fingers, hand, wrist, arm, elbow and shoulder. Its intricate
and mobile design coupled with the use and abuse sustained each
day makes this region of the body highly susceptible to injury.
Our Rehabilitation Center has the clinical expertise to quickly
establish an accurate diagnosis and develop a plan of care that
fits the needs of each patient suffering from upper-extremity pain
or discomfort. We provide a full range of modalities and exercise
equipment to treat hands and arms. Combined with early intervention
and a highly qualified staff, these features help patients regain
independence and return to the lives they enjoy.
Our Hand & Upper Extremity Therapy staff specializes in:
- Assessment and treatment of injuries associated with head injury,
multiple trauma, peripheral nerve injury, cerebrovascular accident,
stroke and neurological conditions
- Educational seminars and in-service
training on avoiding injury at work, home or while playing sports
- Advanced
therapeutic treatments including an Industrial Training Center
and an Activities of Daily Living Lab
- Advanced therapeutic treatments
including Bioness, which utilizes electrical stimulations to
re-integrate the brain and muscular function of the upper extremities.
- Advanced
