Volunteer Benefits

Our volunteers say the satisfaction they get from helping our patients, visitors and employees is worth far more than the time they commit. It’s a gift they give themselves, but there are other benefits as well, including:

  • Free use of exercise equipment.
  • Fellowship with other volunteers.
  • Job experience.
  • Annual health assessment and vaccinations.
  • Tax deduction.
  • Discounts to area attractions and businesses.
  • Annual recognition breakfast.
  • Free meal with four-hour shift.
  • Gift Shop discounts.

How volunteering helps

For patients and their families,
the volunteer who greets them at the reception desk is often the first impression they have of Randolph Hospital. Our volunteers assist patients and their families in countless ways, from soothing a crying child to assisting families as they inquire about a loved one’s surgery to helping a family member select just the right gift for a loved one as they recover. Our volunteers provide that extra caring touch.

For Randolph Hospital, our volunteers’ generous hours help keep the costs of delivering healthcare low, while not compromising on the compassion and caring that they bring. Through Gift Shop sales and other fund-raising efforts our volunteer organization sponsors selected special projects and services. Through our teen and college volunteer programs, Randolph Hospital ensures that students learn about the diverse opportunities available in healthcare. This experience often encourages them to embark on a career in the health sciences.

For our volunteers, the opportunity to give is more than just the hours they spend at the hospital. Our volunteers say the time they invest comes back to them time and time again in knowing they’ve helped make another’s job easier, made a patient’s stay more comfortable or assisted a family member in finding out about a loved one’s condition.
